| Aurora
7 was America’s second manned orbital flight. Astronaut M. Scott
Carpenter was often called the “poet philosopher” of the Mercury 7
and everyone thought he actually enjoyed his flight more than any other
Mercury Astronaut. This
spacecraft model features the orbital heat shield and retropack as well
as the Aurora 7 logo art.
The
Aurora 7 Mercury capsule is currently on display at the Museum of
Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois.
